EU Funding

Each budgetary period, the European Commission directs considerable budget towards the implementation of the EU policies. This is achieved through grants provided to projects aiming at the implementation of such policies.

The current budgetary period 2007-2013 offers extensive support for different entities whether public or private. Below, some examples of EU funding opportunities are highlighted.

EU funding opportunities are distinguished between centralized and decentralized funding. Centralised funding is directly managed by the European Commission while decentralized funding is managed by local and/or regional authorities.

Centralised Funding Opportunities include:

  • Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development 7 (FP7) - This programme has a total budget of over 50 billion euro which covers various sectors including health, ICT, energy, environment, academic research.

    • The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP)
    • The Information Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT-PSP)
    • The Intelligent Energy Europe Programme (IEE)
